Love it

I simply love it when…
  1. Every time I come to Baroda, the chaai wala - exactly next to the wheeler store at Vadodara station welcomes me with a warm smile and says “madam, bahot dino baad aaye…" ("Seeing you after a long time madam")
  2. Dadi prepares vedhmi & fruit-salad exclusively for me.
  3. Mom hugs me.
  4. Pooja calls me “bena”.
  5. I do my room, even more the whole house like a lady possessed (btw, I am the 'Cleaning Queen' of India and competing for 'Miss Crazy Cleaning' title abroad :P)
  6. Sit at the window with a cup of coffee while it’s raining.
  7. I get a gift from someone, without any occasion! ( PS: I accept gifts on occasions too)
  8. I shop & shop & shop, yet not drop.
  9. Dadi uses her classic English words to add value to her Gujarati sentence.
  10. Mama (as in mom’s brother) puts his hand on my head and shakily asks “baddhu barabar che ne beta? Kai hoy to kehje”? (“Is everything ok, let me know if it’s not”)
  11. I receive a compliment from someone I least expect (a genuine one though…)
  12. I go out for a jog in the early morning, even if (or should I say, especially since) it’s once in a blue moon ;)
  13. I finish reading a good book.
  14. Mom says “well done” beta.
  15. I get out of the super-hot shower, and immediately have ice-cold water. Aaaaah…
  16. I just lay there on my bed  doing nothing, even after waking up in the morning (yeah, just lay inactively) – Jabbar Aadsoo :P
  17. Someone gets me “fresh hot jalebies…” Bhagwaan madi gaya
  18. Tropical cyclone Level 6 is declared in HK( in essence, unplanned holiday)
  19. India wins cricket/hockey match.
  20. I invite people over to my place, cook for them and they love it.
  21. I wear a saree & drape it perfectly!
  22. I get a haircut.
  23. I spot a tear in mom’s eyes while looking at my childhood pics.
  24. Dadi says “tu mara jevi j che - bahu  samajhdaar che” ;) (You are just like me, wise.)
  25. G cleans the house & keeps it that way (It seldom happens though… :-|)
  26. I get “upper berth” in train and “window seat” in flight!
  27. Every time I read & re-read my graduation speech.
I can ramble on and on, but I have something more important to do. - Sleep :)
Good night sweethearts

To the most selfless creature on the earth :-)

It’s the heights of the plight of education in India… Imagine someone with a Graduation in Child Psychology has children who grow up to be like us! That’s exactly what I think when I see Pooja and myself making a mess of our house, lives, and otherwise! Here’s to the woman who put her dreams and her life on the back burner to spend major part of her life deciding which  dal  will grace our dinner table, choosing what  sabzis  to will satiate us kids, and managing to how to get  both  on our tables. We get too busy growing up to realize that that our parents are growing old simultaneously. My mother just got operated for a major jaw operation. She often complaints of her knees aching like hell. Though she looks more beautiful than she ever did to me, I can see the wrinkles on her face making their presence felt. She gets tired faster than she used to. Her eyes are deeper (like literally too).  She says senti stuff like, “Just a coupl...

Aiwayii - II

Hi Junta I know I have been blog-dying oh so often lately but if you’re a close friend, you’d know why. If you’re wondering what  I've  been up to lately (if you’re not, why are you still reading my post! :|) let me tell you  I've been  doing great – travelling , meeting people, getting perspectives, brainstorming, and challenging myself in ways difficult for me to handle! Yeah, I’m a bit strange that way ;) So, currently: Am back from US trip, which by the way, was amazing. That’s where “meeting people” and a bit of “getting perspectives” part come into picture. Anyways, now back to Hong Kong and life’s getting pretty interesting. I had Dadi and Pooja at my place! We all had super fun! I discovered that G + Pooja is a bad combo. They act super crazy, senseless and  juvenile   infantile when  together! They got me to my wits end in Macau. ~X( My friend’s blessed with a bundle of joy – a sweet lil baby girl! A first in any of my group...

Welcome to United States of America

Welcome to United States of America" - That’s exactly how our Flight Captain welcomed us to this country. And I was sooooo delighted ! More than USA, it was the idea of finally getting off the 18th century American Airlines plane with grumpy staff  :-&  that caused the delight! It’s been 3 days since then and my first blog from the land of dreams! Its 5:00 am here and my body’s on starvation mode. That’s something I can’t stand. I guess I've had some 10 hrs of sleep in past 72 hours and that's it! Imagine, you've a severe headache, your back hurts unbearably. Your eyes are droopy due to sleep deprivation and they just don’t stop watering. You’ve a RED runny nose. Your face looks pale. You haven’t showered in 24 hours now and are burying yourself under layers of sweat shirts and comforters. That’s how my jet-lag has affected me. G and Ankur have been guiltlessly taking me out for a ride – LITERALLY! All the way from New York to Connecticut to New Jersey t...
